Custom Gas Spring Solutions for Unique Applications

Plan custom gas spring solutions for unique OEM applications by defining load, stroke, fittings, material, environment, and RFQ details.

Many OEM projects cannot be solved by choosing a catalogue gas spring by length alone. The application may need a non standard stroke, special bracket, unusual end fitting, lockable function, stainless steel material, controlled damping, color requirement, private label packaging, or specific installation geometry. In these cases, a custom gas spring review is more reliable than trial and error replacement.

Custom does not always mean complicated. It often means matching a normal gas spring family to the real application: force, stroke, length, mounting points, end fittings, and environment.

Start by describing what the moving part should do. Does it need lift assistance, hold open support, position locking, soft closing, corrosion resistance, or a combination? A toolbox lid, medical bed backrest, industrial safety guard, marine hatch, and furniture table may all use gas springs, but their design priorities are different.

Select lift gas springs /products/lift gas springs for assisted opening, lockable gas springs /products/lockable gas springs for adjustable positioning, SS316 stainless steel gas springs /products/stainless steel gas springs for harsh environments, or dampers for motion control.

Send the application, load weight, hinge or pivot position, opening angle, stroke, extended length, compressed length, mounting point distance, number of gas springs, end fitting type, material preference, working environment, expected quantity, and any drawings or sample photos. A short video can be helpful when damping or motion feel is important.

If the application is new, use the force calculator /resources/gas spring force calculator and dimensions guide /resources/gas spring dimensions to prepare initial values. If replacing a part, include all printed markings and photos of both fittings.

OEM projects may also require labeling, packaging, batch consistency, corrosion review, test documentation, and stable repeat orders. Confirm any special requirements before quotation so the product can be reviewed as a production part rather than a one off sample.

Can LX Gas Spring review an application from photos only?

Photos help, but drawings or measured dimensions are much better. For force selection, panel weight and mounting points are important.

Force, stroke, length, fittings, brackets, material, finish, damping feel, release mechanism, color, and packaging can be reviewed.

Exact drawings are preferred, but early review can begin from photos, sketches, and measured installation dimensions.
