Gas Spring Dampers and Motion Control Dampers

Controlled Closing For OEM Motion Systems

Gas spring dampers are used when the main requirement is controlled movement rather than lift force. They help reduce slamming, manage closing speed, absorb impact, and improve the feel of lids, covers, waste bins, RV compartments, industrial panels, and furniture mechanisms.

Damper Selection Inputs

A useful damper RFQ includes the moving part weight, motion direction, stroke, installed length, available bracket space, desired closing speed, operating angle, end fitting type, expected cycle frequency, temperature, and whether the application also needs lift support.

Where Dampers Are Usually Applied

Dampers are commonly reviewed for RV storage compartments, waste bin lids, soft-close covers, toolboxes, machine guards, vehicle storage panels, furniture doors, and access covers where uncontrolled motion could cause noise, impact, or user safety issues.

OEM Review Before Production

For batch production, the damper should be tested inside the real mechanism because closing speed depends on weight, angle, friction, temperature, mounting point position, and available stroke. LX Gas Spring can review samples, drawings, and application photos before quoting.
